| THE ROYAL INTERNATIONAL AIR TATTOO RAF FAIRFORD, GLOUCESTERSHIRE To build on the hugely popular vehicle display that featured at the 2006 Air Tattoo, the world’s largest military airshow will once again be looking for examples of Classic Cars as well as vintage, custom, competition, military, commercial and other interesting vehicles to compliment their 2007 static display. The Royal International Air Tattoo, at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, is held in support of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust and attracts around 165,000 people each year. Clive Elsdon, who is one of the team co-ordinating the vehicle display, said: “The Air Tattoo offers people the opportunity to display their vehicles in a unique environment, nestled among many of the world’s greatest aircraft. The 2006 display attracted more than 100 vehicles per day and the feedback we have had has been excellent. Many have told us what a wonderful experience it was and have asked to come back. As part of next summer’s Air Tattoo, NATO Tiger Squadrons will be invited to bring their brightly painted aircraft to the Air-show. We hope to offer anyone bringing a Sunbeam Tiger or the rare Messcherschmitt Tg500 “Tiger” a once in a life time opportunity.” Also, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the US Air Force, a Star Spangled event is planned featuring the sights and sounds of US popular culture with musical, sporting and interactive entertainment. An open invitation has been issued to the owners of American vehicles to exhibit at the event. Particularly sought after are examples of American vehicles from the 1940s through to the present day to take part in a themed parade in the main arena in the central showground area and in a comprehensive static display. US vehicle owners will have the added bonus that RAF Fairford is a US base and so, essentially, they will have the chance to display on ‘home’ turf’.
