Sat 23rd May The
Military Show VE Day Party
Celebrations & World War II Collectors Fair!
Brighton and Hove
are holding an exciting new outdoor event this summer to celebrate the 65th
Anniversary of the end of World War II. The Military Show will highlight this
landmark in our history and attract thousands of visitors to our city for a day
of memories, discovery and fun. The Military Show on Hove Lawns, will include
displays of Armed Forces vehicles, demonstrations, a World War II Collectors’
Fair, recruitment opportunities, participation from local schools, music and
dance entertainment and American wartime style catering! The Kent Lindy Hoppers
will be performing vintage dance displays from 1932-1945 including the Lindy
Hop, Balboa, Collegiate Shag, & Charleston, whilst The Clover Sisters
(pictured) will recreate hits from The Andrews Sisters. Swing hits enjoyed by
the U.S Army from 1941-1945 will provide the party atmosphere – and look out
for Viv the Spiv who will be out there trying to sell his suspect watches and
nylon stockings! Dine out on The Lawns with typical American toasted
sandwiches, Louisiana vegetable stew, and American doughnuts – all washed down
with a selection of soft drinks, American Beer and British Real Ales. If you
collect World War II books, stamps, cigarette cards,
weapons, badges or 1940s vintage clothes, our Collectors’ Fair is not to be
missed!
