Stars Turn out to Support Charity at the War and Peace Show
Following
the recent announcement that Dame Vera Lynn will be attending the War
and Peace Show, held at the Hop Farm Country Park, this July (21st -
25th), a host of other stars will attend to the show to raise the
profile of "SOS", Stars against Cerebral Palsy.
Following
Dame Vera's arena appearance on the Friday and her attendance at the Miller
Night that evening, stars of Dad's Army will visit the show on Saturday,
followed by "It ain't half hot mum" characters on Sunday.
Currently enjoying
somewhat of a resurgence following Phil Jupitus' endorsement in the BBC series "Britain's best sitcom",
Dad's Army has long been a family favourite. Based around a group of home
guards during the Second World War the show was a hit when first shown in
the late 60's and still attracts large audiences over 30 years later.
Four
characters from the show, Mrs Fox (Pamela Cundell), Warden Hodges (Bill Pertwee),
Rev Richard Farthing (Frank Williams) and Pvt Frank Pike (Ian Lavender) will
be attending the show, in costume on Saturday 24th July. The characters will
appear in the arena as well as doing walk about's and signing autographs.
On
Sunday 25th July, characters from another popular series, also written by
Jimmy Perry and David Croft and set in the second World War, will give the
show an "It ain't half hot mum" feel.
Gunner "Gloria" Beaumont (Melvyn Hayes) and Captain Ashwood (Michael Knowles) will be on hand to greet fans.
The War
and Peace Show takes place at the Hop Farm Country Park, Paddock Wood,
