RELEASE FROM WAR AND PEACE TEAM
15th January 2002
Rare WW2 Willys 6X6 MT TUG makes a special appearance at The War and Peace
Show
In
conjunction with The War and Peace Show at The Hop Farm in July and Jeep
World Magazine, they will have on their stand one of the rarest Jeeps
in the world "The WW2 Willys MT TUG 6X6 Jeep". Only 15 were
ever built in late 1942 by Willys Overland as a test concept to go into
production and be used by the US Marines. But due to its late arrival
and the fact that other 6X6 military vehicles were being heavily used
by US Forces, the Army saw no need for it, so hence it never went into
full production.
Today
it is believed that only 4 of these MT TUG's have survived and we are
fortunate that one of the surviving fully restored examples will be on
show at this years show. The owner Fred Smith from Staffordshire has kindly
loaned Mark Askew of Jeep World Magazine this very rare and stunning example
of the Willys 6X6 TUG to have on his stand for the full 5 days to show
the rest of the world.
So
if you are into Jeeps, rare military vehicles, then drop in to see this
rare Jeep, as it may be one of those rare "once in a lifetime"
opportunities to see such a rare Jeep in the flesh.
Just
another great reason for you to come along and visit the War and Peace
Show, and the Jeep World stand.
