This year we
have made more space available for living history and have pledged to
avoid the problems of the past - there will definitely be NO bouncy
castles in view, civilian vehicles will be ejected from the display
areas while the show is open, and groups will be sited away from dusty
access roads wherever possible. The one thing which could make a
world of difference at this year's show would be a dedicated co-ordinator
who could liase with us and the various groups and help to allocate
display space, resolve local difficulties, and generally make exhibitors
welcome. If you have the necessary skills and time available, please
consider volunteering for this key post. You can get more details of
what is involved, or offer your services, by contacting the War &
Peace office.

As you will see
from the list below, many re-enactment and living history groups have
booked themselves in to the War and Peace Show, July 2002, already...
and there are a couple of things we would like to stress:
There are NO ADMISSION,
OR CAMPING CHARGES for members of pre-booked living history displays.
We appreciate the costs and effort incurred by some groups in putting
together displays and in striving to achieve the remarkable degree of
authenticity which has been evident at past shows. Our exit polls and
public surveys tell us that, for many, they provide great interest and
enjoyment to visitors to the show. HOWEVER, so as to separate genuine
living history re-enactors and display organisers, who have put so much
time and effort into providing something for the public to admire and
learn from, from visitors to the show, we must ask that if you are a
living history re-enactor, PLEASE book IN ADVANCE. The living history
area, although considerably larger than last year, is filling up quickly
and we must have your booking in advance of the show, otherwise we cannot
guarantee you space to display. If you are a member of a group already
booked in, we ask that you ask your group coordinator to contact us
to confirm that you are a member of that re-enactment group. Many thanks
in advance for your cooperation!

While on the subject
of living history, a number of groups have already expressed an interest
in displaying in the "Showcase" field being run by Terry Elliott.
To remind you, this is a new feature this year, providing the main visitor
route to the rest of the show and giving the public an extensive taste
of the delights to be found elsewhere on the site. The plan is to provide
a mix of stalls, displays, dioramas and vehicles, all chosen for their
quality, uniqueness or crowd appeal! If you are a vehicle owner, re-enactor,
have a display, or are a stallholder specialising in collectable militaria
(such as uniforms, badges, medals, books, vintage clothing or WW11 Home
Front items) and wish to be sited in this area, please contact the War
& Peace Office or Terry Elliott on 0207 515 8981 as soon as possible.
Important notice:
A US reenactor called Vincent Sposato would like to hook up with other
US reenactors attending the event. If anyone would like to contact him
please send an e-mail to:
