Bob Willmer from the FBMVO Club will be bringing this prototype to Beltring.
Here are a few details about the old girl.
Manufactured December 1985 (Confirmation on its way from Leyland Trucks Ltd)
Test Vehicle to Replace the Bedford MK/MJ
Passed to RARDE Chertsey 1986
Allocated Military Reg No 01 WA 26
In trials with the 01 WA 25 and AWD -Bedford's ML4-4 and the Volvo M6 Highlander ( See WHEELS and TRACKS 25 page 43)
Announced June 1989 that Leyland Daf has won the contract for supply
01 WA 26 appears in British Army Transport & Logistics Chapter 13 page 70 without Military No plates along with 01 WA 27
Waiting for information for period between 1992 and 2002 demob

It is with
thanks to Stewart Hodge at Leyland Trucks Ltd who is sourcing the
written confirmation prior to 1992 and to Nick Percival who is sourcing
the period details for 1992 to 2002
Bob has the
original British Army Work Ticket with a original test paper from 1992
at that stage she had 43000Km's showing on the speedo and now has only
48300Km's.
A lot of TLC is required to bring her back to her glory show days, but
a vehicle that ended 50 years of Bedford dominance of supply to the
British Army can not be allowed to be destroyed or forgotten.
