THE WAR AND PEACE SHOW 2002

More Vehicles that are booked in

More Vehicles to be booked in include:

A LAIRD CENTAUR MULTI PURPOSE MILITARY VEHICLE SYSTEM. Basically a Land Rover body, with front wheels and drive from a V8 and the rear driven by tracks from a Scorpion CVR(T). The doors are angled outwards as the rear of the vehicle is wider (2 metres).

This vehicle is apparantly one of only 7 made. It is owned by Bovington Tank Museum and shown by a Mr Spiers.

The second vehicle also being shown by Mr Spiers is a TUAREG REMOTE AREA PATROL VEHICLE. Basically a 4X4 armoured long range 6,800 kg (loaded) vehicle. Powered by a Mercedes- Benz 2.8 litre 6 cylinder petrol engine. The only one left of the 2 built.

On a slightly different note we have a convoy of 20 vehicles coming from Zevenaar in Holland, all members of The War Horses Military Vehicle Conservation Group. This includes 6 Champs. A DAF YP408 8X6 Armoured Personnel as seen on page 273 of Barts Directory. Amongst others such as jeeps, a Humber, and Unimog they are also bringing a DAF YA126 also in Barts Directory on page 267.

Entries have just been confirmed for two Main Battle Tanks, both belonging to Carl Brown of C&C Military Services.

His excellent Tiger mock up on a Russian T55 base and an ex Iraqi T72, captured by the British in the Gulf War.

Both vehicles will be put through their paces in the main arena.

Whilst writing about the main arena, Pip Biddlecombe wil be bringing his Cat D7 dozer to modify the arena and add excitement to the laps of the vehicles.

PRESS RELEASE

Purchased originally by Harry Pounds Snr from the Army Dispersal's some 30 years ago and used as a yard tug around their marine shipping salvage complex, which over the years became the final resting place of many tanks, ships and submarines. Fortunately Harry Pounds love of the unusual saved this vehicle from the cutting torch. Thanks to Harry Pounds Jnr of Pounds Marine Shipping, as of today, The War and Peace Collection are now certain that their Sherman BARV (Beach Armoured Recovery Vehicle) will be attending this years War and Peace Show.

One of only perhaps a few dozen originally made, (no one quite knows exactly) this is probably the only running survivor left in the world, this vehicle will be making regular runs in the arena.

Powered by two Detroit supercharged 2-stroke diesels this huge beast turns heads as it roars through its straight through un silenced exhausts.

Designed for and used on the Normandy beaches during D-Day they certainly worked hard, pulling in the vehicles which were landed too far out and moving anything they come across to safety.
