Planes, Trains and Automobiles

(Or: How to get to the Showground)

 

The War and Peace Show takes place at the Hop Farm Country Park at Paddock Wood, Kent .

FERRIES

If you are driving from Europe, we recommend that you travel with Norfolk Line Ferries, with whom we have an excellent relationship. If you quote "Beltring/War and Peace" when you book with them (call (0870) 870 1020 for the UK office, or + 33 (0)3 28 28 95 50 for the French office), you will be entitled to the unbeatable rate of £12/metre with up to 5 people in the vehicle, each way. You can book using this password all year round as well, whether popping over for a weekend, or coming to stay for several weeks...

Upon arrival in Dover, follow signs for the M20 (Folkestone, Ashford, Maidstone). Remain on this motorway until Junction 4, (approximately 40 miles) exit, following the signs for Paddock Wood and the A228. The War and Peace Show is at the Hop Farm Country Park near Paddock Wood, on the A228, approximately 10 miles from the M20 turn off.

PLANES

If arriving at Heathrow, Gatwick or any other London airport, we recommend that you hire a car and aim for the M25. (See "Automobiles")

Alternatively, take a train into London and make your way to Charing Cross mainline station, for a direct connection to Paddock Wood, where taxis are readily available (approx 2 miles).

TRAINS

If coming from abroad, you can catch the Eurostar nearly all the way to the War and Peace Show. You need to change trains at Ashford, and take the next train to Paddock Wood station, where you can get a taxi to the show (approx 2 miles).

Alternatively, take a train into London and make your way to Charing Cross mainline station, for a direct connection to Paddock Wood, where taxis are readily available (approx 2 miles).

AUTOMOBILES

If arriving via the Western half of the M25 (eg M40, M4, M3, A3, M23), exit at Junction 5 of the M25, following the A21 towards Paddock Wood and Hastings. Follow signs for Paddock Wood and the A228. The War and Peace Show is at the Hop Farm Country Park near Paddock Wood, on the A228, approximately 8 miles from where you join the A228.

If arriving from the Eastern half of the M25 (M1, A1(M), M11, A12, A13) travel over the Dartford Crossing, remain on the M25 to exit at Junction 3 (M20 towards Maidstone). Follow the M20 until you see signs for Paddock Wood and the A228. The War and Peace Show is at the Hop Farm Country Park near Paddock Wood, on the A228, approximately 15 miles from the M20 turn off.

TAXI'S

The War and Peace show have a special offer with Streamline Taxis. To travel from Gatwick Airport to either The Hop Farm, Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells or Wrotham (depending where your hotel or accomodation is based) and it will cost a fixed price of £37 each way. People can book independantly just quote "The Hop Farm / War and Peace Show" to get the special rate.

HELICOPTERS

If you wish to arrive by helicopter, the coordinates will be posted on this site very soon. Upon arrival, you will notice Helicopter Rides taking place in Americas Field and we request that you set down in that area. Please call the Hop Farm Country Park on (01622) 872068 in advance for further information and for frequency details so that you can coordinate with other incoming flights.

BUSES

For local bus details, please contact Arriva Buses on 01892 520221 for further information.

PARK AND RIDE

As in previous years, a Park and Ride system will be in operation on the Saturday and Sunday of the show. Buses will be running approximately every 10 minutes. (There is disabled parking located within the Hop Farm).
