THE WAR AND PEACE SHOW 2002

BARV - Beach Armoured Recovery Vehicle

PRESS RELEASE

Purchased originally by Harry Pounds Snr from the Army Dispersal's some 30 years ago and used as a yard tug around their marine shipping salvage complex, which over the years became the final resting place of many tanks, ships and submarines. Fortunately Harry Pounds love of the unusual saved this vehicle from the cutting torch. Thanks to Harry Pounds Jnr of Pounds Marine Shipping, as of today, The War and Peace Collection are now certain that their Sherman BARV (Beach Armoured Recovery Vehicle) will be attending this years War and Peace Show.

One of only perhaps a few dozen originally made, (no one quite knows exactly) this is probably the only running survivor left in the world, this vehicle will be making regular runs in the arena.

Powered by two Detroit supercharged 2-stroke diesels this huge beast turns heads as it roars through its straight through un silenced exhausts.

Designed for and used on the Normandy beaches during D-Day they certainly worked hard, pulling in the vehicles which were landed too far out and moving anything they come across to safety.
