It all started
with a holiday in the Ardennes in 1984. We came round a bend and there
was this King great Tiger - tank, that is. It spawned my son's
fascination with military vehicles and I got dragged along in the
slipstream. Born in Broadstairs in 1939 and remember "Hell Fire Corner"
- just. National Service airman 1960-62, then civil servant till
retirement in 1996. Married to Gill since 1964 with son, Peter (IMP
2231) and daughters Kate & Izzy. As a Francophile I came to Béthune
1990 for the ride, joined IMPS and in 1993 bought my 1942 RAF Humber
Heavy Utility. I have been active "in the wings" of the Committee from
the start, notably as a French translator and was newsletter editor in
1999-2000 and briefly secretary before again being elected to that post
in Feb 2002.
