THE
WAR AND PEACE SHOW 2002
Meet
the Hymers Family
|
 |
|
Lyn
and Michael Hymers live in a Victorian terraced house in Yorkshire with
Kirstie and the boys nearby.
The sitting room is
Victorian, the dining room 1940s, the kitchen a '50s Diner and the bathroom
Edwardian, indicating "that we can't agree on anything". The Hymers
are the first to admit that in their everyday lives they "play at living
in the 1940s". |
|
The
family all come from the small market town of Otley, near Leeds.
A
recent trip to find a suitable school in West Wickham, where the experiment
is set, was the first time that Lyn Hymers and the two young boys had
been to London, while Kirstie's only previous visit was on a school outing.

|
We
are delighted that the Hymers Family, stars of the Channel 4 series "The
1940s House", were able to join us at the War and Peace show in 2001.
Part of the Miller Tent was adapted to create a 1940s-style environment,
and visitors were able to meet Lyn, Michael and the family...
