A Churchill tank, Ward le France M1 A1, jeeps and a Desert war display helped kick things off on Wednesday. Our 2001 show
got off to a slightly damp start, with many hardy souls braving the elements
on set up day. But as the show opened at noon with an hour's arena entertainment
with the tanks, the sun shone.

The arena
compere remarked to the crowd that they were very lucky - unlike every
other audience at the show over the years they weren't going to get covered
in dust! 20 lucky (and very suprised) schoolkids were treated to impromptu
tank rides and the crowd of spectators watched a good selection of the
3,500 plus vehicles that take part in the show.

Despite the
MVPA convention being on the same weekend, many American collectors had
flown over to take part in what is unquestionably the worlds largest miltary
vehicle event.
