Visitors
with Norfolk Line Ferries, Light vehicles, Diamond T, Panzer IV, 1944
Morris C8 GS and a Sherman tank were more highlights for Thursday. Thousands
of the visitors to Beltring this year had come from outside the UK to
join the party, many of them helped over the Channel from Dunkerque by
Norfolk Line Ferries at the
extremely cheap per metre rate the War and Peace team had negotiated (£12
per metre each way, fixed now until December 2002 for Beltring enthusiasts).
We had visitors from every European country, as well as the Middle East,
Japan and, despite the MVPA convention taking place simultaneously in
the USA, a large American contingent had flown over to join us at Beltring...

Even the Florida
MVPA were spotted by the roving website photographer soaking up the "European"
experience, supping on authentic "Foreign Legion" wine, and
munching on Camembert, saucissons and baguettes outside their distinctive
teepee-esque tent, Various other Americans were encountered all over the
site, who obviously preferred to make the effort to take part in the wonderful
week at Beltring!
