Saturday 4

The Herb Miller Night

Herb Miller Night with music from John Miller, 1940s costume, Winston Churchill and the Jitterbug dance made for a thoroughly memorable night!. Those lucky people who had bought their tickets had the opportunity to hear John Miller (Glenn Miller's nephew) and his band whip up the dance floor, the evening was unforgettable.

The vast majority of people had made the effort to appear in authentic 1940s costume, whether civilian or military...

We were graced by the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, complete with military escort, who extolled the values of the British Nation...

Nick Kirvy had kindly helped out with some dance coaching for those people wishing to brush up on their steps late that afternoon, and the Jitterbug competition was hotly contested, with some very entertaining moves out on the dance floor.

It was finally won, in fantastic style, by Marion Turner and Alex Scott, and presented by last year's winners, Ashley Elliott and Yvette Hillebrandt.

The Hymers family, stars of Channel 4's "The 1940s House" series, made one of many appearances at the show during the Herb Miller Evening, and were to be spotted mingling with the crowds...

The party went on until well into the early hours, with a packed dance floor and lots of fun had by all...
